The army Commandant Mr. Rafael Cruz Conde founded the Cellar in 1902 in order to produce, age and commercialize the best wines from Montilla-Moriles area: generous wines, white wines, Pedro Ximenez sweet wines and Brandies. As a result of the intense wine activity, Cruz Conde became one of the most important wineries in the area, equipped with a great infrastructure. The activity development enabled the construction of a subterranean cellar composed by 6 vaulted naves and other cellars with an exceptional architecture.

    In 1925, his Majesty the King Alfonso XIII gave to Cruz Conde the title of “Official Supplier of the Royal House”, gaining recognition nationally for its wine activity. Since then, the products from Cruz Conde received many awards for their quality both in national and international competitions, such as Brussells, Peñin, ISW, Prowein, Vinoble, Mezquita, Berlin, Lyon, etc.

    THE CORDOVAN WOMAN
    LA CORDOBESA
    As a result of the close relationship between the founder of the winery and the popular Cordovan painter, Julio Romero de Torres, the artist dedicated to the winery one of his most famous paintings. Between 1929 and 1930, he performed the painting popularly known as “The Cordovan Woman”. From this moment on, the painting represents the company graphically as a logo and on the labels of the products.

    THE DISTILLERY, "DESTILERÍAS LA CORDOBESA"
    In the 1930s, the founder of Bodegas Cruz Conde created the actual Destilerías La Cordobesa as a complement of the wine-making activity. The range of wines was supplemented with a line of top-quality anisettes and brandies. The distillery is equipped with copper stills dating from the early XX century, which are still used nowadays for the traditional distillation of our products.

    The union between tradition and modernity, ancestral techniques and new technologies, makes possible to offer a large range of wines and spirits, which combine the traditional taste with the highest quality standards. Cruz Conde is certified by the norm ISO 9001:2000 and implanted the norms IFS and HACCP as well.

     

    Thanks to representative products such as the ANIS LA CORDOBESA, the FINO CRUZ CONDE, the VINO DULCE PEDRO XIMENEZ 1902 or the GRAN BRANDY CRUZ CONDE, the company consolidates its position in a well-defined market niche in the national market on the different distribution channels.

     

    In 2004, a Vinegar Cellar was created in order to age prime quality wine vinegars recently protected by the Denomination of Origin Montilla-Moriles.

     

    As a business strategy, our efforts in terms of marketing and communication are aimed to the development of new products in accordance with the new market trends.

     

    The new generation managing the company is facing the challenges of the current markets situation with dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit establishing management and production systems in order to satisfy the wine sector’s needs.
